Student Papers Win AIAA/USU Competition

Rashied Amini, a 2008 graduate who performed research in the MASE Aerospace Systems Laboratory, took 2nd place in the Frank J. Redd Student Paper Competition at the 22nd AIAA/USU Conference on Small Satellites. His work, "Utilizing Fractionated Space Mission Design and Small Satellites for a Next-Generation Gamma Ray Burst Observatory", was the only undergraduate paper in the finals. Rashied now works at JPL, and was joined in the finals by Marit Meyer, a graduate student in MASE, who received an honorable mention (top-six finish) for her paper, "Rapid Satellite Deployment of a Consumer Electronics Payload".
